At All Saints’ CE Primary School, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child is supported to learn, participate and thrive.
We recognise that every child is different and that some pupils may need additional or different support at different points in their school journey.
Our approach to SEND is centred around understanding each child’s individual strengths, needs and circumstances, then working closely with families to provide the right support.
Supporting Your Child
If your child has recently been identified as having a special educational need or disability, it can sometimes feel like there is a lot of new information to take in.
Our SEND Team is here to help you understand the support available, answer your questions and work alongside you throughout your child’s time at All Saints’.
We want families to feel informed, involved and confident that their child’s needs are understood.
An Inclusive Approach
Inclusion is at the heart of All Saints’.
We aim to ensure that pupils with SEND are able to take part fully in school life and access a broad, engaging and ambitious curriculum.
Support is tailored to the individual child and may include adjustments within the classroom, targeted interventions, additional resources or specialist advice where appropriate.
Our aim is always to help pupils overcome barriers to learning while building confidence, independence and a positive experience of school.
Working Together
The best outcomes are achieved when school, families and other professionals work together.
We value the knowledge parents and carers have of their children and encourage open communication throughout the identification, assessment and support process.
Where appropriate, we also work with external services and specialists to ensure pupils receive the support they need.
What Does SEND Mean?
The SEND Code of Practice provides statutory guidance for schools and other organisations supporting children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
A child may have special educational needs where they have a learning difficulty or disability that means they require educational provision additional to, or different from, that normally available to pupils of the same age.
Areas of SEND
The SEND Code of Practice identifies four broad areas of need: communication and interaction; cognition and learning; social, emotional and mental health; and sensory and physical needs.
Children may have needs across more than one area, and their needs can change over time. Support is therefore based on each child’s individual strengths, needs and circumstances.
Communication & Interaction
This may include difficulties with speech, language, communication and social interaction.
Cognition & Learning
This includes children who may need additional support with aspects of learning and processing information.
Sensory & Physical Needs
This may include visual or hearing impairment, physical disabilities or sensory needs that affect access to learning.
Children may have needs across more than one area, and these needs can change over time.
