Governors
Our governors play an important role in supporting and challenging the school, helping ensure that All Saints’ continues to provide the best possible education and opportunities for every child.
The governing body works closely with the Headteacher, school leadership team and the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Multi-Academy Trust.
Governors contribute a range of skills and experience and help monitor areas including educational performance, safeguarding, finance, school development and the wellbeing of pupils and staff.
How our governing body works
The Local Governing Body is a group of volunteers committed to the school’s success. It works with the Headteacher and the St Edmundsbury and Ipswich Multi-Academy Trust to provide strategic support and constructive challenge.
The governing body has 12 established positions: two parent governors elected by parents; the Headteacher; one staff governor elected by staff; five Trust governors, including the local vicar or curate; and up to three co-opted governors appointed for the skills and experience they bring.
Governors make their own decisions in the interests of the whole school community rather than acting as delegates for one group.
Meetings and responsibilities
The full Local Governing Body normally meets twice each term. Its work includes monitoring educational performance, safeguarding, finance, staffing, premises, health and safety, admissions and the wellbeing of pupils and staff.
Committees and individual governors report back to the full governing body so decisions and monitoring remain coordinated and accountable.

Parents interested in becoming a parent governor are encouraged to contact the Headteacher or School Office. No specialist qualification is required; a commitment to the school and a willingness to take an active role are the most important qualities.
